In continuation to my earlier postings on the Poundarikapuram Asramam Sweekaaram function of Sri U Ve D Rajagopalachariar Swamy, I am now posting the youtube video clips taken on the morning of 30/01/2012 at the Ashramam premises in Srirangam. Srikaryam
Dr. Anantha Narasimhachariar Swamy admirably conduted the proceedings. Everyone of the devotees assembled there were able to watch the sequence of events leading to Sanyasa Asramam of an Yathi. Please enjoy viewing as many of you could not have had an opportunity to be personally present on the occasion.This is a great event and I personally consider this as a bhaagyam in my life, as I missed to watch a similar one in earlier years.
During his short speech after taking over Sanyasa Asramam, he told that all the practices of His previous Acharyan Sri Gopala Desika Mahadesikan will be exactly followed and regular Kaalakshepams in the Asramam premises will be continued.

Sri Upa.Ve. D.Rajagopalachariar swamy, who is to adorn the Acharya Peetam
of Poundarikapuram Srimad Andavan Ashramam on 30th January, visited
Thiruppullani today to have a Holy Dip at Sri Adhi Sethu before Ashrama
Sweekaram. In the morning after Sri Sethu Snaanam, he did mangalasasanam at
Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumal Temple and at Sri Hayagreeva -- Sri Vedanta
Desikan Sannidhi of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam. He was honoured at
Sri Adhi Jagannatha Perumal Temple and at Srimad Andavan Ashrama Desikan
Sannidhi. Swamy honoured all the temple staff with suitable sambhavanai.
On the niyamanam of Srimad Andavan Sri Rangaramanuja Maha Desikan
(Srimushnam), kainkaryaparals of Thiruppullani Ashramam (where Sri D.R.
swamy stayed) extended their full cooperation for Swamy and those
accompanied Sri D.R Swamy. Sri D.R Swamy left for Srirangam in the evening.

Sri U Ve Rajagopalachar Swami to ascend the throne of Srimad Poundarikapuram Andavan Ashramam

Sri D. Rajagopalachariar Swami will head the Paundarikapuram Ashramam in Srirangam. He will be the ninth Jeer of the Ashramam and is a great scholar in Sanskrit, Tamil and Hindi. He is an ardent follower of the eighth Jeer of the Ashramam, Paravakottai Gopala Desika Mahadesikan Swamigal who passed away on November 12.
Sri Rajagopalachariar Swami was born on April 27, 1931 in Vaduvur village in Thanjavur district.
Sri Swami, popularly known as ‘Royapuram Swami,’ started learning Sanskrit in KRM Estate Patasala in Mannargudi. After four years of training, he joined the Raja Veda Dharma Patasala in Kumbakonam for advanced study in Sanskrit. He later joined the Madras Sanskrit College in Mylapore and graduated as ‘Sahitya Siromani’.
During this period, he also learnt Hindi and qualified in the Visharadh examination. He also passed the Tamil Vidwan course.
Swami has served as Tamil teacher for ten years in Sethupathi High School, Madurai. Later he shifted to New Delhi to serve as a Tamil teacher in New Delhi Tamil School.
During his stay there, Sri Swami was conferred the titles “Sahithya Ratna” from Haridwar Ashrama Swami, “Vidyabhooshana” from Gujarat Vidyapeet and “Ramayana Kathabivarshaka” from Harinagar Tamil Association.
After serving in New Delhi for 30 years, he came to Srirangam and had his Grantha Chathustaya Kalakshepam under the Holy Feet of Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan of Srimad Poundarikapuram Swami Asramam.
Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan was pleased with his services and gave him an opportunity for ‘Bhikshai kainkaryam and also conferred the title “Acharya Seva Durandhara” on Sri Swami. He had the honour of doing kainkaryam in the Thiruneermalai Asramam and Bangalore Asramam for some time.
He has authored the books, “Thulasidasarum avar tham arulvaakkum”; “Thiruppavai – Godastuthi” ; “Sudarsana Satakam – Commentary”.
He had participated in the Vidwat Sadas conducted under the auspices of the Ashramam. He had assisted Srimad Paravakkottai Andavan in the publications of the Asramam like Srimad Rahasyatrayasaram, Chillarai Rahasyangal and Ramapiranai Karpom.
The religious rituals will be performed on January 30, 2012, when Sri Swami will be the Jeer and head the Ashramam.
